Tutorial: Connect Your Substack to Google Search Console

This is the video walkthrough of how to connect your newsletter using Google Tag Manager

Hello, folks! This is a video walkthrough of the steps I provided last week on how to connect your Substack to Google Search Console and submitting your sitemap for verification. While many new Substack writers have reported not having an ability to connect their accounts, this is not true. It’s still possible to connect your accounts. You will just be using the Google Tag Manager ID field instead of the Google Site Verification field in your Substack newsletter settings.

I set up my GSC account for this newsletter last week and recorded it so others can do the same.

In this video tutorial, I cover:

  • Determining whether you have the site verification field on your Substack or will need to use Google Tag Manager to connect

  • Creating a new account in Google Tag Manager

  • Adding the code to your Substack

  • Verifying your account in Google Search Console

  • Submitting your Substack sitemap in GSC

This is a followup to my first video tutorial where I walked through the individual Substack SEO post settings
